Why US and UK ads show no reach in the Meta Ad Library

Meta publishes reach only for ads shown in the EU, because the Digital Services Act requires it. What that means for US and UK creators, and how we handle it.

Open a US or UK creator's ads in the Meta Ad Library and the reach is missing. That is not a bug. Meta publishes reach because the Digital Services Act requires it, and that law covers the European Union only.

The UK is outside it too

This surprises people. Of the ads we hold that run only in the UK, none has a reach figure. Add a single EU country to the same campaign and 96% of them do. So a British advertiser can show years of reach from old European campaigns while today's UK-only ads show none.

What it changes for you

  • The ads are all there. The Ad Library lists US and UK ads like any other: the text, the picture or video, the start date.
  • The numbers aren't. With no reach, nothing about the ad says how many people saw it or what it cost.
  • The API is EU only. Meta's Ad Library API returns ads delivered in the EU, so tools built on it alone miss US-only advertisers entirely.

How Whosprinting handles it

We read US and UK ads from the public Ad Library page itself, for the creators we follow, so their ads and the pages behind them are there. For their reach we use a modelled figure: their number of ads times the median reach per ad of creators in the same niche whose reach Meta does publish. It is shown with ≈ and a low confidence label, never as a measurement. Spend follows the same rule.

The full method, with every formula, is on the methodology page.
